Concerning the blending, I think the opacity spinboxes are "wasted"
space for now (the one for the background IS useless). In general, I
think users want to use just the mouse to change opacity, not the keyboard.
We could also get rid of the eye (visibility) buttons, an opacity of 0
corresponds to hiding the volume.
In this case, I can also see a "special" spinbox (like XIP has), where
you mouse down on it, then drag the mouse right/left to
decrease/increase the value and release the button when done.

IMO, there is still one cleanup work before closing the issue. In the dropdown panel at the top of each image viewports, there is still an opacity slicer which appears and disappears. This should be removed.

We had said: "Adjust opacity" for label maps pops up on clicking on the eye icon on that row (perhaps a different icon needed?)". The FG BG blend would be permanent instead of pop up.
