Dear SlicerDicer, Thanks for your report. Considering that the last version of MacOSX supporting PowerPC (PPC) was Snow Leopard (10.5) released almost 10 years ago (See [1]), we are focusing our effort supporting current platform based on Intel processor. That said, nothing prevent you from trying to build Slicer from source on your older system. Let me know if you have any other questions, Thanks [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X#Version_10.5:_.22Leopard.22 |

HEEELLLOOOOOO....... "Jc", you said to let you know if I had any other questions, and I did, but a week later no one has replied to my previous post, you closed my followup thread, and when I click on jcfr up above, I get "access denied." (How sweet.) So where are the compiled versions of Slicer for PPC that are mentioned and linked (w/ bad links) all over the website?? |

Hi Slicerdicer, I will try to answer you questions and concerns one by one below: 1) Your question: So where are the compiled versions of Slicer for PPC that are mentioned and linked (w/ bad links) all over the website?? My answer: As indicated in the first comment, there are NO binaries for PPC. Regarding MacOSX, we consider the PPC platform obsolete and are focusing effort on Intel 64-bit platform. This explained why will not find executable on this links: http://slicer.kitware.com/midas3/folder/274 2) Your question: WTF?? Oh hey, here it is--on an unlinked page My answer: If you scroll at the beginning of the page:
You will see that we indicate the instruction are obsolete and you should refer to http://slicer.org Similar remark for: http://www.slicer.org/pages/Special:SlicerDownloads 3) Your question: Was there ever a compiled v. 2.6 (or 2.5/2.4?) for Mac?? Probably, when the version 2.x of Slicer was under active development (0000009:0000010 yrs ago). 4) Your question: So where are the compiled versions of Slicer for PPC that are mentioned and linked (w/ bad links) all over the website?? My answer: They are available from: http://www.slicer.org/pages/Special:SlicerDownloads Thanks |
