Summary0003863: slicer crashes when I display tract tubes on a slice
Description

Every time I try to use the Tubes Slice feature in Tractography display, Slicer hangs then crashes.

I have tested one slicer version, 4.3.1-2014-09-02.

A screenshot of what it looks like as it hangs, and the apple crash log, are attached.

That would be great.

I thinks this has been addressed by r23690 done on Sep 17th
See http://viewvc.slicer.org/viewvc.cgi/Slicer4?view=revision&revision=23690

Ps: And thanks for reporting the bug and helping out with this :)

IT did not crash immediately, in fact I could display tubes on the slices. They were only visible if tubes were also displayed in 3D (odd behavior). When I then tried to change the color of the tubes, first by checking the solid color checkbox (ok) then by double clicking on the color to change it, slicer crashed. I believe I did not see the color pop-up window before it crashed. The crash log is attached.
This is with today's nightly downloaded right now.

and thanks for being responsive and replying about this! we are trying to generate images for a paper and there have been many issues so I am trying to report them, at least the ones I can duplicate

No problem.

Given the fact that (1) we still have major issue with the fiber bundle and (2) I am heading out of town tomorrow morning for vacation (back mid October) .., we will postpone the release (one more time) and give ourself the time to fix these last issues.

okay great thank you. we have found another bug but I'm asking the student to try it with today's nightly before we report... I will see if I can break anything else next week. Have a great vacation!

I just got slicer nightly from the website and installed it: 4.3.1-2014-10-14

First I tried to test it with a scene file that has fiber bundles and diffusion images and Slicer just froze on me with a white screen. See first attached image.

I then exited Slicer, started it again, and loaded in the fiber bundle and images separately. I went to diffusion, tractography display and hit tubes on slice. nothing happened. Then I displayed tubes in the 3D window, and I saw the tubes on the slices. I loaded another tract file and it was okay.

Then, I hit solid tube color (the checkbox). This was okay but the color on the slices did not change (I assume it was FA or something). Finally, I clicked the little colored square on one of the tracts to change its color, and Slicer crashed. The apple crash report is attached. I am also putting this as a note on the bug report.

It seems this bug may be related to displaying tubes on the slices and changing their color. I will test again with another dataset (this is not the same one as with my first crash report so I have duplicated this with two datasets so far).

This crash seems to be happening on 2-tensor datasest only.
Re-targeted to 4.4.1 release

Fixed the logic for passing the scalars in vtkPolyDataTensorToColor to prevent uninitialized data array.
