Summary0003579: Very few patients, studies, series are visible in the DICOM browser
Description

On a laptop screen only 3-4 patients, studies, and series are visible – we should see at least about 8 of each.

  • Change the layout (e.g., move the loadables list into a second column; hide the plugin list by default and use a >> button – similar to the one in the Application settings/Modules – to show it)
  • Decrease the row height of the patients/studies/series tables (it looks to have about 1.5-2x line spacing and/or larger font)
  • Move “Local database” selector and Make DICOM browser persistent to an advanced options section (in a popup window or hidden by default) to save space and reduce clutter
  • Allow changing the height of the table (now only the rows within table can be resized, but not whole widget)
  • “Uncheck all” button in the loadable should be replaced by a button in the header of the loadable list (the checkboxes could be in a separate column, the select all/none would be in the header of that column)

Good list.
I think the most important one are decreasing row height and allowing manual change of the table height (by splitter). Those can save us a lot of inconvenience.

0010568: as an alternative to a QSplitter, I would also suggest ctkExpandableWidget ( http://www.commontk.org/index.php/Documentation/ImageGallery )

The new browser is almost perfect. Remaining problems:

  • The columns are usually too narrow (see screenshot). Change the GUI to resize the column width to the contents or increase the default widths of the columns.
  • If the window is maximized then its vertical size is not expanded (horizontal is fine; see screenshot)

Tested the latest nightly.
Remaining problems:

  • Make these columns wider: PatientsName (2x wider), PatientID (2x wider)
  • SeriesDescription make it the last column (or make it 3x wider than it is now)
  • Decrease the row height of the patients/studies/series tables (it looks to have about 1.5-2x line spacing and/or larger font)
  • There is an unnecessary resize handle in the lower-right corner of the patient/study/series widget (above the "browser persistent" checkbox)
