Perhaps related to printing or to status text? I'm guessing there could be a workaround in the multivolume code, but if we can identify what call is doing this at the Qt level we should fix it there.

Question for Tobias: did you happen to be building slicer at the same time? There is an issue with a 'one pixel splash screen' that causes focus issues on mac (if so we should transfer this bug to Jc).

The Viewport Widget has to be folded out for this behavior to happen.

Confirmed, when the slice viewer widget is pinned, it grabs the focus once an item is added to the scene.

The issue is not localized to MultiVolume. To reproduce, pin the slice control widget, go to "SampleData", and download any dataset (CTChest takes time, DWIVolume even longer). The focus will switch to the slice controller widget once the data is downloaded.
