Summary0001954: drag & drop: option to lock view settings
Description

when using drag & drop to add a new file, all the view settings are reset to the default state. On the one hand this is useful as it lets the user know the file(s) have loaded, on the other hand it can be very disruptive to loose all the view settings.
Would be great to have the view settings locked or at least have the option to have them locked for drag & drop import or have a way to save and restore the settings.

It's not proper to the drag&drop, is it ?
Don't you have the same behavior if you load a file using the conventional way ?

Yes, indeed, both Load Volume menu as well as the "Add Data" button cause the same reset. Just as unwelcome a behavior there I would say. It becomes an issue in cases where one spends a lot of time setting up a particular arrangement of view settings (FG,BG, size of 3D window, labelmap, zoom, W&L, colormaps etc.) and then realizes that another image is needed. There it would be nice to preserve the setup when loading new data, although some of that can be accomplished by first saving a "Scene View" and then restoring after loading.
