Summary0001944: unpacking extension into read-only directory hangs
Description

For example, you can run slicer from dmg mounted as a file system, but slicer should provide a dialog warning and disable extension installations.

  • Test pass on linux and macosx.
  • There is an issue on windows.

I tried this yesterday - the install button had no effect, which is better than a hang. But can we generate a message box to tell the user why the install failed? (but fixing this is lower priority than getting the developer instructions for creating extensions)

Considering the install button belong to a midas web page, the idea will be to use the built-in midas notification system to display error ...
