Description

I've had this issue with Slicer4 for quite some time now, so I thought I'd make a video to show what I am seeing:

What are the steps to reproduce ?
Do you load a scene ? a volume ? apply filters ? Does it always happen ?
What happens if you:

  • start slicer
  • load a volume
  • try to change the current volume in the slice view controller menu

From Steve:
I can't reproduce this either - are you sure the two volumes overlap in RAS space? Can you try the two brain tumor volumes from the sample data and see if that works? Or try centering the volumes with the button in the Volumes module's Info tab.

From Hans:
This has been the behavior on my computer for quite some time now. I have Qt 4.7.3 installed on Mac 10.6.8, and a pretty standard "Release" build. I did a clean build, and got the same behavior. My home account is on an NFS mount point, and the executable is on local disk.

Any two images loaded, and I can not switch between them.

I found I can reproduce this issue, but only one one particularly machine/Qt combination (so far at least).

Tested with revision 18104 on mac 10.7 (lion) with Qt 4.7.3 with a debug build fails in the way Hans shows.

Same code on mac 10.6 (snow leopard) with Qt 4.6.2 does not have the problem.

Using the python console I checked and the vtkMRMLSliceComposite node matches what is displayed, so the issue must be somewhere in the node combo box not accepting the selection.

Another clue: go into any command line module (Say, Filtering->Threshold Image). Initially there are volumes selected in the combo boxes, but trying to pick a different one results in the combo box reverting to "Select a Volume".

FYI: I just updated to QT 4.7.4, and the problem does not seem to be present on 10.6. I'm trying 10.7 today. Perhaps it is just a bug in Mac version of qt version 4.7.3. That is a bit disturbing, but if that is the case, we should probably just move on to requiring QT 4.7.4 or greater.

I fixed an odd bug in r18340, it might fix the odd behavior you have. You might want to give a shot.

Perhaps a check for Mac + QT 4.7.3 would be sufficient to close this bug.

It appears to be a QT bug that was fixed in 4.7.4.

This problem does not exists in 4.7.4.

Only mac 4.7.3 is affected.
