The changes that I made yesterday may have fixed this, restoring scenes updates the 2d and 3d views for me on my development copy. I'll check the nightly build as well, but if you can give me some more information about which version of Slicer4 you're using and on what kind of computer, and ideally the mrml file that you're using (I have the data), I'll see if I can reproduce it.

I use the version 3D Slicer 4.0.gamma-2011-06-06.

I load the mrml file that is available in the Slicer3Visualization tutorial data set. This tutorial is available in Slicer3 tutorials web page.

I'm not seeing a mrml file in the tutorial data set that I downloaded, but I made one and added the label map, the grey scale, and a model and worked with it. I tested the release from 6/13 and was able to get the scene views module to lose the scene views when I restored one, but I'm unable to reproduce the steps right now.

This worked for me:
create mrml scene with two scene views, save to disk
close scene
load scene from mrml file (scene views show up in Scene Views module)
go to Data module, restore first scene view from the buttons in the lower left corner.
Can still see scene views in the Scene Views module.

But when I restore, I do see the data changing in the 2d and 3d viewers.

I tried it with version Slicer 4.0.gamma-2011-06-29.
It is working for the Slicer3Visualization tutorial data now.
