Sure, if you could attach the volumes to exactly replicate the issue that could help. Or if you can explain how to reproduce the issue (i.e. with sample data and crop volume) that would help.

thanks - turns out I don't need the original data. I can replicate it as follows:

• download MRHead from SampleData
• use CropVolume to extract a region
• put cropped region in foreground, mrhead in background
• change window/level for visibility

Whenever the slice viewers are scrolled outside of the bounds of the cropped volume the inset image becomes black.

It seems this is a special case in the resample pipeline. I notice a few clues:

• in the sagittal view the problem occurs on the left side, but not on the right (i.e. as you scroll through from patient left to patient right the issue is different on the two sides).

• that if the slice plane is rotated even slightly (using the reformat tool) the issue goes away

This issue was fixed a few years ago.
